Governance Training

The Construction Growth Foundation (CGF), in partnership with the Institute of Directors, delivers targeted governance training designed specifically for building and construction industry associations who are members of CGF.

Strong governance is fundamental to achieving your association's purpose and vision. This one-day intensive programme equips directors, trustees, and emerging leaders with the skills and frameworks needed to govern effectively, think strategically, and lead their organisations confidently into the future.

Business Mentors

CGF has committed funding to continue its partnership with Business Mentors New Zealand (BMNZ), giving construction business owners across New Zealand access to one-to-one mentoring, fully subsidised through CGF.

The programme connects owners of small construction business to experienced business mentors from BMNZ's network of 1,500+ volunteers. Each mentor relationship runs for up to 12 months, providing independent, practical guidance on the challenges that matter most.

The registration fee of $295+GST is fully funded by CGF, meaning there is no cost to the business owner.

How It Works

The process is simple. Members register their interest through the dedicated CGF/BMNZ registration page. BMNZ reviews applications and allocates funded spaces. Successful recipients are then matched with a mentor suited to their business and goals.

Real Leadership Tradies Tour

Leading a crew takes a different set of skills from being on the tools. Many tradies step into leadership because they are good at their trade, then find themselves managing different personalities, setting expectations, giving feedback and trying to keep work moving at the same time.

CGF has partnered with Roar Coaching to bring a practical, full-day leadership workshop for tradies to six centres across New Zealand in October and November 2026.

The workshop gives trade business owners and team leaders practical tools to lead with greater confidence, build stronger relationships and get the best from their people. The focus is on skills participants can apply on site and in their business straight away.

CGF is subsidising 50% of the course fee for eligible members of CGF member associations. The standard fee is $595 + GST per person. The subsidised member price is $297.50 + GST per person (limited to the first 60 registrations), with CGF funding the remaining 50%.

How It Works

The process is simple. Members register their interest through the dedicated Roar Coaching website registration page. We will send you a list of your members to confirm are eligible for the discount. Successful recipients are then sent their tickets for the 1-day training course.
